St. Dominic's Fair
Place of event: The Main Town (Główne Miasto) in Gdańsk

St. Dominic's Fair is the largest open-air commercial and cultural event in Poland and one of the largest in Europe. Saint Dominic's Fair has enjoyed 750 years of tradition; it was established by the decree of Pope Alexander IV in the year 1260. Since that year the Fair has been organized in Gdańsk, always at the beginning of August when, according to the Catholic calendar, there is a feast-day of Saint Dominic, the patron saint of the Fair. St. Dominic’s Fair has been organized by Gdańsk International Fair Co. since 1996. During the twenty tree days in the peak of the tourist season numerous cultural events take place among the walls of ancient Gdańsk, including: a brass-bands festival, the holiday of street theatres, amber festival, festival of children artistic groups, along with rock concerts and fireworks displays. More than 1000 traders, artists and collectors participate in the Fair occupying with their stands several streets in the centre of the Old Town.


Types of facilities:
Tent-type pavilions with a total floor space of 2,000 sq. m.
Freestanding stalls with a total space of approx. 5,000 sq. m.

Visitors:
approx. 150,000 people a day

fireworks and laser effects displays,
rock concerts,
pop-music concerts,
chamber and organ music concerts,
contents and sport events.
